| Assistant manager Overlander Sports in Yellowknife, Canada has an immediate opening for an assistant manager. A post-secondary degree in either business or sport marketing is required with at least two years of management experience, or at least five years of previous management experience at the retail level. You must have a strong sports background or participate in either team sports or outdoor adventure pursuits. Bilingual in either English and French or English and Japanese would be an asset. Duties would not be limited to but would consist of some of the following: -prepare employee schedules -communicate to staff on-going changes to business plans and the company's directions -monitor sales, prepare performance indicators -write employee performance evaluations -prepare bank deposits and balance accounts at day end -write incident reports and theft reports -prepare budgets and sales forecasts -meet with suppliers and travel to trade shows -negotiate with vendors -prepare marketing strategies -attend seminars or read manuals to maintain & acquire product knowledge -place orders and monitor inventory levels In addition to the foregoing, assistant manger duties might also include general sales duties such as: - Greet customers and discuss the type, quality and quantity of merchandise sought for purchase. - Advise customers on use and care of merchandise, and provide advice concerning specialized products or services - Provide estimates and price quotes - Maintain rental equipment - Process sales and rental contracts and accept cash, cheque, credit card or automatic debit payment - Assist in the display of merchandise - Maintain sales records for inventory control | |
